What Is a Smile Makeover?
A personalized plan to transform your smile
A smile makeover is a coordinated set of cosmetic dental treatments designed around your face, lip line, bite and goals. Rather than fixing one tooth in isolation, we plan the final outcome first — using digital design and a wax-up preview — and then execute the treatments needed to reach it: veneers, whitening, bonding, reshaping, crowns, or gum contouring.
What It Includes
Treatments in a Smile Makeover
Your plan may combine several of these — the exact mix is chosen during evaluation.
|
Most Common
Porcelain VeneersThin ceramic shells bonded to the front of teeth. Correct color, shape, alignment and minor gaps. The gold standard for complete makeovers.
|
Conservative
Composite Veneers & BondingLayered composite resin applied directly to the tooth. Minimally invasive, often same-day, reversible. Ideal for younger patients or minor corrections.
|
Color Correction
Professional WhiteningIn-office or take-home whitening is often scheduled before veneer work so adjacent teeth match the new shade. Several shades of improvement are typical.
|
|
Shape & Symmetry
Tooth Reshaping & ContouringSubtle enamel reshaping to balance edges, correct minor overlaps and refine lengths. Often combined with bonding for finishing touches.
|
Full Coverage
Dental CrownsUsed when a tooth is structurally compromised — cracked, heavily filled or after a root canal. Zirconia or E-max porcelain are matched to the overall plan.
|
Frame the Smile
Gum ContouringFor gummy smiles or uneven gum lines, a precise soft-tissue adjustment reshapes the gingival frame so the teeth look proportional and balanced.

The Process
How a Smile Makeover Works at Our Clinic
1 |
Virtual Consultation Send photos and a short video of your smile via WhatsApp. We return with an initial diagnosis, a treatment direction, and an estimated budget before you travel. |
2 |
Digital Smile Design & Wax-Up On your first in-person visit we take photos, bite registration and impressions. A 3D digital design and physical wax-up let you preview the final result before any tooth is touched. |
3 |
Treatment Sequencing Treatments are scheduled in the correct order: whitening (if included) first, then any periodontal work, then veneers or crowns. Every session is documented in your treatment log. |
4 |
Final Placement & Reveal The veneers, bonding or crowns are cemented after a trial fit where color, shape and bite are confirmed. Most full cases take 5–10 business days in Medellín. |
5 |
Follow-up & Maintenance A post-op check is scheduled before you fly back. We stay available via WhatsApp and coordinate with your local dentist for long-term polish, bite adjustments and hygiene visits. |

Aftercare
Keeping Your New Smile
For the first 48 hours after placement, avoid staining foods and drinks (coffee, red wine, beets, curry, dark sauces) and anything very hot or cold. Brushing and flossing resume normally.
Daily routine: brush twice a day with a non-abrasive toothpaste, floss carefully around veneer margins, and consider an interdental brush or water flosser. Avoid biting directly on hard objects (pens, ice, nails).
Long-term: a professional cleaning and polish every 6 months keeps margins healthy and color stable. Porcelain veneers typically last 10–15+ years; composite veneers may need a polish or small touch-up every 3–5 years.

Common Questions
Smile Makeover FAQs
How long does a smile makeover take?
A complete smile makeover typically requires 5 to 10 business days in Medellín across 3 to 5 appointments. Composite-based plans are often completed in fewer visits than porcelain veneer work.
Is a smile makeover reversible?
Composite veneers and bonding are reversible. Porcelain veneers require minor enamel reduction and are considered permanent. Whitening is not permanent by itself. We explain reversibility for each element in your plan.
Will I see a preview before any tooth is touched?
Yes. Every case includes a digital smile design and a physical wax-up that you approve before any irreversible step. Adjustments to shape, length and color are made at this stage.
Does a makeover look natural?
Yes, when planned correctly. Modern porcelain veneers (E-max) and layered composites mimic the translucency of enamel. Shade matching is done in natural daylight and the design respects your lip line, face shape and age.
Does it hurt?
The treatment itself is performed under local anesthesia and is not painful. Some sensitivity to hot or cold is common for a few days after porcelain veneer placement and resolves with desensitizing toothpaste.
How long will the results last?
Porcelain veneers commonly last 10 to 15+ years. Composite veneers last 5 to 10 years with regular polishing. Whitening maintains color for 1 to 3 years depending on habits (coffee, tea, smoking).
Do I need a night guard after?
If you grind your teeth at night (bruxism), yes. A custom night guard protects the restorations and extends their lifespan significantly. It is included in the quote when clinically indicated.
What about follow-up when I return home?
We provide written aftercare instructions in English and remain available via WhatsApp. Routine cleanings and polishes can be performed by any local dentist. If any issue arises, we coordinate directly with them.
